Bill Reed: Co-Chair
Bill Reed is a full-time tenured senior accounting instructor at Everett Community College in Everett, Washington, and is CFO of MFR Law Group, PLLC., a firm focused on human resource services, and human resources and fraud investigations. He is also past commissioner for the Washington State Commission on African-American Affairs, an organization whose mission is to encourage the development and implementation of policies, programs and practices that improve the lives of African American citizens residing in Washington State. Reed is a native of Covington, Tennessee, attended community college in Tennessee, and is a graduate of Union University, located in Jackson Tennessee.
After earning an undergraduate degree in accounting and business management, Reed earned an MBA from Western Washington University, located in Bellingham Washington. Reed is a certified public accountant (CPA), chartered global management accountant (CGMA), certified fraud examiner (CFE), and private investigator (PI).
During his private professional career, which spans over twenty-five years, Reed held middle and senior management positions in accounting, finance and manufacturing operations with several fortune 500 companies, the last with Microsoft.
Reed is a supporter of a number of community organizations in the Western Washington community … NAACP Snohomish County Branch, Special Olympics of Washington, Family Services, Everett Community College, and Western Washington University.
He is co-founder and organizing committee member of the Snohomish County Students of Color Conference. Reed, and his wife, Marcella are annual conference sponsors and contributors.
Carlos Veliz: Co-Chair
Carlos Veliz founded PCSI Design in 1999, bringing nearly three decades of experience in aerospace and mechanical engineering to build a strong regional company with global reach. Carlos combines his roots as a designer with his love of doing business to drive the PCSI Design culture of delivering high quality design, engineering and manufacturing value to his customers.
Carlos is committed to PCSI Design's local and diverse communities. He is a member of the University of Washington Business Economic Development Board, Minority Business Enterprise Input Committee, the Northwest Minority Business Council, and has spurred the growth of groups such as the Society of Hispanice Professional Engineers, Mexican American Engineers and Scientists, and the Washington State Chamber of Commerce.
Mr Veliz also served as a trustee for Everett Community College and Chaired the Mayor of Everett's Diversity Committee. A devoted believer in the power of mentoring, Carlos cochairs the Snohomish Students of Color Career Conference in Everett and is a mentor with the Snohomish County Minority Achievers Program. Carlos in an alumnus of the Tuck Executive Business School at Dartmouth. He lives in Lake Stevens with his wife.
