How It Began
During the 2005/6 academic year, we created a professional development program model for faculty, called a Teaching Laboratory. The subject of study was cooperative learning activities in the classroom, applied in a laboratory setting. A group of 15 faculty committed 30 hours over one academic year, actively engaging in the study of collaborative learning.
Faculty have taken the lessons learned in the lab and applied them to their courses. In effect, we used the lab to develop, test, and apply locally articulated best practices for teaching and learning.
The Purpose of This Webpage
Our goal is for this webpage to provide a record of our experiences and the collaborative learning techniques and resources we used throughout the year. We hope that this information can be used to generate ideas for creating other groups like ours. We do not intend for written documents to be downloaded for copy or used without the express permission of the copyright holder.
