College GroupWise® Email 

It's important for students to follow the specific instructions for first-time login to GroupWise (detailed below) before trying to access their email.

First time student login to GroupWise web access

Getting to the GroupWise Web Access page: Go to http://gw.students.everettcc.edu That brings you to a page with "English" and "Go" buttons. Click Go. It may ask for a certificate update - click yes, or otherwise accept. It may give you a warning about security, go ahead and click Continue.

Login Information for GroupWise Web Access: Doing the above steps brings you to the login page. The password structure for GroupWise is spelled out below. If you use the computers on campus, the Username and Password are the same for GroupWise as it is for the Novell login window.

Changing your password from the initial temporary password: Once you login to GroupWise Web access, change your password since this is a temporary password and is only good for five logins.
Click the "Options" section in the upper right corner to bring up a new window. In the upper left corner, the second tab from the left is a "Passwords" tab. Click that. Enter the temporary password listed above for the Old Password. Next, create a new password that meets all of the following criteria:

  • Your password must be 8 characters in length minimum.
  • Your password must contain one upper case letter.
  • Your password must contain one lower case letter.
  • Your password must contain one number and/or special character.
  • Important! Your password cannot contain 3 or more consecutive characters from your username. For example, your if your username is 'jsmith', your password cannot contain 'jsm' or 'smi' or 'ith'.
  • Important! Your password cannot contain 3 or more consecutive characters from your username.
  • You cannot reuse passwords.

Note: If you registered with a single letter for a first name, you cant use that letter in your password.
Once you have entered the new password in the New Password and Confirm fields, click Save.

Resetting your password

If you're unable to login, reset your password, or your password has expired and are unable login: You can use the Self-Service Password Reset page available at https://www.everettcc.edu/resources/password/

Accessing your Student Email

Once you have followed the instructions for the first-time login:

  1. Go to http://gw.students.everettcc.edu/ 
  2. Click on GO
  3. Type in your username and password according to the following rules, and click "Login"
    • Username: first initial + middle initial + full last name (use the letter x if you have no middle name registered with the college)
      Example: Joe F. Smith would be 'jfsmith'
    • Password**: first letter of your first name capitalized + the first letter of your last name in lower case + your full SID

**NOTE: This pasword is temporary and you may be asked to change the next time you login.

Performance issues with the browser

If you are getting an error or are encountering slow access speed, try turning off the TLS 1.0 setting:

  • In Internet Explorer/Vista: Open the Advanced Internet Options from the Tools menu. Scroll down to the Security section and disable "TLS 1.0" by un-checking it. Click Apply and then OK.
  • In Firefox: Click the Firefox® menu item, scroll down and select Preferences. Un-check ‘Use TLS 1.0’ and close the window.
  • The Safari® browser does not allow you to disable TLS 1.0. As an option, Mac users are advised to download and install Firefox® from http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/ 

Forwarding e-mails to a different account

  • Once you have logged in and reset your password, you can set the rule for forwarding to a different email address.
  • From the Options window, select the Rules tab.
  • Click the Type drop down box, scroll down and select Forward.
  • Next, click the Create button. Enter a Rule Name that is appropriate, like "Forward All E-mail Home". If you want all of your e-mail to be forwarded, leave the Define Optional Condition section blank.
  • In the Define Action section, enter the email address you wish your username@everettcc.edu messages forwarded to in the "To:" section.
  • Click Save to get back to the Rules window. Make sure that the new Rule you created (Forward All E-mail Home) is checked, then click Save.
