Concert: Nelly's Echo
Wednesday, May. 8, 2013 12:00pm - 1:00pm
Location:
Parks Cafe
“I find you so interesting and compelling, and your story is so meaningful.” said Christina Aguilera, a Judge on the Voice. Nelly’s Echo, The Voice participant, is a talented and experienced musician. He is an accomplished singer-songwriter with a multicultural background. Originally from Nigeria, Africa, Nelly moved to the states at the age of 16 and began pursuing the American dream. Nelly’s Echo, formed by Nelson Emokpae (Lead singer) in early 2007, originates from the premise that music is a two way street. “Nelly” refers to the musician/music and “Echo” refers to the audience’s appreciation of the music. Nelly’s Echo is neither a band or a solo musician, but a concept of the musical experience associated with it’s creator Nelson.
Nelly’s Echo’s songs are the soft-spoken voice in a noisy world, the medicine for the aching heart, and the trumpet for the joyous soul because good music is a road map in navigating the tricky journey of life. Nelly has performed at over 100 colleges in 2011, and he has been performing at various venues throughout the country to inform audiences about his “funky fresh music”, and his story.
Please join us on Wednesday May 8th in the Parks Café at 12p.m. We look forward to see you there.

“Yellow Submarine” Spring Fling featuring the Beatles!
Wednesday, May. 29, 2013 11:00am - 1:00pm
Location:
Parks Courtyard
“Well shake it up baby now!” Summer is fast approaching and Student Activities has invited a blast from the past to EvCC’s annual Spring Fling that will make you want to twist and shout. Local Seattle-based Beatles tribute band, British Export, is coming to rock n’ roll your end-of-quarter blues away! This year’s Fling theme is “Yellow Submarine”- so don your yellow ascot and bellbottoms (if only with your imagination) and come out for a rollicking good time. Student Programs Board will be giving away free ice cream, popsicles and sunglasses to keep you cool, a caricature artist will be on campus to sketch your portrait, and you’ll have one last chance to check out a campus club fest before the 2012-2013 school year comes to an end.
British Export has toured nationally and internationally as a renowned Beatles tribute for over a decade. These four close friends have been voted the top Beatles tribute three times in a row at Beatlefest in both New York and Chicago. Though they’ve travelled the world keeping the memory of the Beatles alive, they love performing most in their home- the Pacific Northwest- and are excited to put on a flashback show for Everett Community College students of all ages! For more information about the music contact Chelsea Rabourn, Concerts Coordinator at (425) 388-9505. Please come celebrate with Student Activities, EvCC’s clubs and the Beatles- Wednesday, May 29th from 11 am to 1 pm!
For more information on this event, please contact Chelsea Rabourn, Health and Concerts Coordinator, at (425) 388-9505 or SAO Advisor, Lindsay Hudson, at (425) 388-9508.

Spring Play "The School for Husbands"
Close Event

The comedy is the story of two sisters and their suitors. One suitor, Sganarelle, is controlling and overbearing of his intended wife, Isabella. The other suitor, Ariste, treats his intended wife, Léonor more as an equal. Ariste finds success in his pursued relationship, while Sganarelle fails miserably. So much so, in fact that that he is unwittingly used by Isabella in seeking her preferred courter, Valère.
“The School for Husbands” is Moliere’s first full-length play, written during the time of French King Louis XIV.
“Our production attempts to recreate the look and feel of the neo-classic court, where manners and style dominate communication, and playwrights operate under constant criticism of the court appointed censors, the French Academy,” said EvCC theater instructor Beth Peterson, who is directing the play.
The cast includes: Eva Bresciano, Nathan Couch, Caleb Dunn, Alex Hills, Dylan Hussey, Kyle Joy, Kat Johnston, Jason McKendry, Phoebe Nguyen, Chloe Maier, Jacob Nusbaum, Nicole Puzzey-Greyson, Xander Seavy, Jesse Tilley, Tim Williams and Eric Zannoi.
Production staff include Nikki Maier, Jodee Kreitel, Noah Holland and Brett Rickaby.
Admission is by donation. The play is open to the public, although theatergoers are asked not to bring infants. For more information, call 425-388-9525.
