Men's & Women's Basketball hosts Shoreline CC February 1
5:00pm

The Trojan Basketball Teams will host league games with the Dolphins of Shoreline Community College on Wednesday, February 1st. Both games will be played in the Walt Price Student Fitness Center. The first game will start at 5:00pm and that will be the Women's game. The Men's game will start at 7:00pm. Admission to the games is $5.00 per person, 12 years and older. Current EvCC Students/Staff/Faculty are FREE when they show their current EvCC ID at the Entry Door.

Winter quarter has arrived and may I say, it is cold outside! This quarter’s winter club fest hosted by Student LIFE Programs Board and EvCC’s Chartered Clubs, is a PAJAMA PARTY! Yeah, it’s happening. Pajama’s or no pajama’s, you get to roll out of bed and show up to school with almost no effort at all! At Club Fest, you can meet new people, learn more about our chartered clubs and organizations, discover newfound friendships and more! This quarter club fest is all about keeping warm and learning something new. Please come and join us for a winter experience you’ve never had before. Come on into the Club Hub and enjoy a cup of FREE hot cocoa, cider, or tea, along with a variety of toppings! There will be a live DJ who will be playing party tunes to give life to our festivities, and many other activities from more than 45+ clubs and Student LIFE at Everett Community College.

Ashlee Haze: Live Spoken Word Performance February 16

EvCC will be hosting Ashlee Haze on February 16th at 2:30pm-3:30pm in the Jackson Center Auditorium. As you may or may not know February is Black History Month, so we will be celebrating and honoring black history month by bringing Ashlee Haze to EvCC’s campus.
 
Kiera "Ashlee Haze" Nelson is a poet and spoken word artist from Atlanta by way of Chicago. Earning the nickname “Big 30" because of her consistency in getting a perfect score, she is one of the most auspicious poets in the sport of poetry slam. She has been a part of the Atlanta Poetry circuit for over a decade and has been writing over 15 years. She has performed everywhere from small coffee shops to the Apollo Theater. She is a 4-time member of Java Monkey Slam Team, 2011 Southern Fried Poetry Slam Champions and the current slam mistress of the Decatur based team. Ashlee Haze is a 2-time Women of the World Poetry Slam Finalist. She appears in “3-Minute Activists: The Soul of Slam” a feature-length documentary that examines the lives and work of some of Atlanta’s premier Spoken Word Artists.

If you don’t know your blood type now, here is your opportunity! Schedule an appointment to donate blood in East County Campus’ first ever Blood Drive with Bloodworks Northwest and help save lives! Did you know that each blood donation can save up to 3 lives? Even neater is that your blood is used within 48 hours. Only about 7% of eligible donors take the time to donate blood, and you can be a part of that group as a student and/or resident of the local community. Here is a few requirements followed by information on the experience. P.S. There is free juice and cookies! 

  1. You have to be 18+ to donate without permission. 16-17 have to submit a permission form.
    Email ksprague@everettcc.edu or visit the Student LIFE office room #373 next to the Chill Spot for access to the permission form.
  2. Adults = 110 lbs       16-17 Male = 114 lbs        16-17 Female = (1st time @ Blood Drive) 125 lbs
  3. If you have donated recently, you can donate every 56 days.

Tips: Eat a healthy meal at least 4 hours before donating, and drink plenty of fluids. Complete the health history questionnaire and screening interview. Receive a brief health check of blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and blood iron levels. Sit back while a unit (1 pint) is collected. Enjoy cookies and juice while relaxing for 10-15 minutes.

On Wednesday, February 22nd, the Trojan Basketball Teams will travel to Bremerton, WA for league games with the Rangers of Olympic College. The Women's game starts at 5:00pm and the Men's game starts at 7:00pm. Directions to Olympic College are under the directions link to the right. Free Info Session: Cosmetology-Offered in English and Spanish February 23

All Information Sessions are held at our School of Cosmetology on State Avenue in Marysville. Attendees will receive important information about the Cosmetology program at EvCC and how to get started in this exciting career. Our information sessions are presented by our Cosmetology instructors.  Attendance is required for admission into the Cosmetology program and is a mandatory process to register.

The Trojan Baseball Team will play the Titans of Lane CC at the University of Oregon on Saturday, February 25th. The first game of the non-league double header will start at 2:00pm with the second game starting about 30 minutes after the first. Basketball will host their final home league games of the 2016-17 season on Saturday, February 25th when the Cardinals of Skagit Valley College are in town. . The Women's league game starts at 4:00pm with the Men's game following at 6:00pm. The games will be played in the Walt Price Student Fitness Center. Before each game the teams will recognize their sophomores for their hard work and dedication to the Trojan Basketball Programs and EvCC for the past two seasons. Admission is $5.00 per person 12 years old and up. Current EvCC Students/Staff/Faculty are Free with current EvCC ID - ID must be shown to receive free admission! Sex Week: "Let's Talk About Sex" Workshop with Stella Haioulani February 28

The Let’s Talk About Sex workshop presented by Stella Haioulani is open to all and addresses the intersection between public health and social justice. People of color make up a small population in Washington State; however, they are becoming HIV-infected at alarming and disproportionate rates. This workshop will challenge the attendee to creatively develop and maintain resiliency and awareness through personal action and social change. Other topics such as STIs and birth control usage will also be talked about in this workshop.
