Twelve years ago EvCC joined over one hundred colleges and universities across the country by actively embracing the Safe Zone program. Safe Zone’s mission is to create a safe environment for Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender, Questioning, and Allied (GLBTQA) students and staff to feel comfortable, welcome, supported and accepted. Safe Zone conveys a message to campus community members that the College is a safe place for the GLBTQA community to be themselves. Programs Board, the Safe Zone Committee and the Triangle Alliance Club hope to provide a greater sense of safety and acceptance for the GLBTQA community at EvCC with the Safe Zone program.
