"This nation will remain the land of the free only so long as it is the home of the brave." -Elmer Davis.
As a nation and as a community, we want to acknowledge and honor our veterans and active duty service members both at home and abroad as so many have sacrificed and pledged their lives so that we can live in the world defined by peace and freedom. We thank them for their service.
In order to recognize and support both veterans and active duty military, the Veterans Resource Center, Veterans Club and Student Activities Programs Board, proudly present Veterans Appreciation Week from Monday, November 4, 2013 – Friday, November 8, 2013 highlighted by the Heroes’ Tree dedication event on Tuesday, November 12, 2013 at 12pm in the Jackson Center Courtyard which will be followed by cake and coffee in the Veteran’s Resource Center located in Parks 313.
During Veterans Appreciation Week, stop by the table presented by our EvCC veterans in the Parks Student Activities Corner and pay respect to a veteran or active duty personnel you know by writing their name on a yellow ribbon. Join us in the dedication event, where your ribbons, which will be collected over the course of Veterans Appreciation Week, will be tied to the Heroes’ Tree in the Jackson Courtyard to honor service members from past to present wars, conflicts, and peacetime operations.
