Hi-Q Resources
Seneca, the Roman philosopher and advisor to Emperor Nero, is credited with saying, "Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity." A great deal of preparation is needed to excel at Hi-Q. The resources that follow are designed to help you meet the challenges of the upcoming season. Good luck!
Students
There are two main resources to assist with your preparation and performance. All of the questions for the 2012 season come from the chapters noted in the 2012 Reference List
. Please pay careful attention to the editions listed. The Student Hi-Q Handbook
contains helpful hints and tips for the time leading up to the matches as well as the day of the match. Whether this is your first year on a Hi-Q team or you are a returning member, the handbook is a great resource.
Advisors
The links below are designed to facilitate your work as advisor by providing one place to access important Hi-Q documents. As noted in the student section, pay careful attention to the editions listed in the 2012 Reference List
. The Advisor's Handbook
has been updated this year. Again, whether you are a new advisor or a seasoned veteran, take the time to review the rules and guidelines. Please make sure all students, and parents, have legibly signed the Student Release Form
for the upcoming season. If a student has already reached the age of 18, they need to sign an Adult Release Form
. Student forms must be submitted prior to participating in the practice match. All photos and video may be used in future Hi-Q publicity materials.
The Advisor Contact Information / Team Roster
also needs to be updated each fall. This information should be submitted before the practice match. Making connections with colleagues from other schools and districts facilitates your work and can benefit your team. The participating schools and advisors list
will help you make those connections.
Many Hi-Q team members upon graduation pursue studies at prestigious universities. To help document the success of our students, please complete the Historical Team Data sheet
and return to Amy Hammons in the Enrollment Services Office.
The Hi-Q Score Sheet
will help you track your team's progress match to match. Refer to the Advisor's Handbook for detailed scoring directions.
New Schools
Hi-Q is wonderful program to augment a school's extra-curricular offerings. In addition to providing a venue to showcase your school's scholars, Hi-Q builds poise and composure as students compete in front of large audiences. Hi-Q is a great activity for students to list on scholarship and college applications. Hi-Q fees for the 2012 season will be $200 per school. If your school is ready to join, or needs more information, complete the new school enrollment form.
