New Student Orientation
Our SOAR program is a one-day, one-stop opportunity to complete placement testing, participate in orientation and advising and then register.
Some schedules may not permit students to devote an entire day. You may complete the SOAR steps in pieces. Take the placement test during one of the regularly scheduled days in the Testing Center. Visit our Personal Orientation Program (POP) online orientation. Then come to campus for advising or an information session.
Reading the Catalog, the Class Schedule and the Student Handbook also help you learn about the EvCC. Don't forget to use the Getting Started Checklist.

SOAR for Success
Find out which courses are best for you, based on an assessment of your reading, writing and math skills (2 hours). Required for students taking more than 7 credits. Waived for students exclusively in Nursing Assistant, Fire 100, Machining, EMT, Medical Transcription, Medical Coding, and Family Life, or students with certain types of previous college coursework. If you have prior college credits or have tested at another institution, you MAY be eligible for a test waiver. Please note that there is a $30 fee for placement testing. Please pay at the Cashiers Office in Jackson Center and bring your receipt to the test.

This one hour, information-packed session will be valuable as you plan your studies. Take advantage of EvCC's services, and discover handy tips for avoiding common pitfalls.

Meet with an advisor to plan your first quarter’s schedule. We have a wide variety of advising services.
