Teens in College

EvCC has a variety of options for young students currently in high school, or in some cases no longer in high school, to participate in college courses. In some cases these opportunities are within the regular high school environment, and in other cases are on the EvCC campus or at an outlying center.

Running Start

A partnership between the College and the public high schools, Running Start provides high school juniors and seniors the opportunity to take college-level courses on a tuition-free basis. Credits earned through Running Start may be used to meet both high school and college requirements. Classes for Running Start students are available on campus, at our Monroe Center, or at Jackson High School, or through our nationally recognized ORCA program.

College in the High School

EvCC faculty and high school instructors collaborate to offer “College in the High School,” a program of college-level courses in selected subjects in the high school. These courses are transferable to most universities and are often related to Advanced Placement offerings in the high school. Students pay a flat fee and receive college credit and grades upon successful completion.

Early College

Located at Tulalip Heritage High School, the Early College program enables Tulalip students to combine high school classes with college-level classes, as well as engage in college visitations and workshops.

Tech Prep

High school students who are enrolled in selected vocational and technical courses in high school and who meet performance standards may be eligible for college credit. EvCC instructors work with high school instructors to identify comparable subject areas. At the end of each semester, students must complete and submit a Tech Prep application, available at each high school, along with the appropriate fees.

Youth Re-Engagement (U-3)

The Youth Re-Engagement Program was created to provide educational opportunities with a strong connection to career development and professional technical job training for youth, age 16-21, who have dropped out of high school.

Teens on Campus

During Fall, Winter and Spring quarters, students who are under the age of 18, and who have not completed high school or a GED, and who are not in the Running Start or College in the High School programs, may enroll upon approval from the Director of the High School Completion program for “special admission”.

Teens on Campus – SummerSmart

Summer quarter offers many opportunities for students under the age of 18 who have not yet earned their high school diploma or GED. Enrollment in classes for either personal interest or to meet high school requirements is allowed following placement testing and an interview. In addition, students enrolled through the SummerSmart program attend free special workshops on such topics as College Success Tips, Career Planning, and College Decision-making.

Adult High School Diploma Program

The High School Completion program provides high school level classes to out-of-school youth and adults who need additional credits to finish their high school diploma.
