GED Testing

GED testing is administered by appointment only

Please use our online GED reservation system to make, change, or view previously scheduled GED appointments. You can also make appointments by phone at 425-388-9288 or in person at the Testing Center. Please see the current GED testing schedule below. GED tests are given in the Testing Center in Glacier Hall, Room 108. You can take one subject test at each test time. We will begin check-in at the beginning of the "arrive between" time and shut the doors at the end of the "arrive between" time to begin giving instructions and handing out books.

  • Before testing, pay the $150 test fee at the Cashiers Office in the Parks Student Union, Room 201.
  • Bring the receipt to the GED In-Take / Registration session.
  • If you are between the ages of 16 and 19, you will need to bring a completed high school release form or notarized statement of completion of a home-schooling program.  You must be at least 16 to test.
  • You will need to bring one form of identification with you, which may include: government issued photo identification that has your name, address, date of birth, and signature on it. We recommend that you bring your Social Security card/number with you. If you do not have a Social Security number you may use your EvCC Student Identification number or request an assigned number from the Testing Center. EvCC does not use Social Security numbers as the prime identifiers of student records, but is required under Internal Revenue Code (IRC 6050S and 6051) to collect this information. Students may opt out of providing their Social Security number.
  • GED records will only be filed under one number.

Important notes:

It has come to our attention that there is a nation-wide scam in which students are being offered an "on-line" GED certificate. The web-sites involved are charging hundreds of dollars for their "certificates." This is a scam! The GED is presently available only in paper-and-pencil format. Only tests taken at an authorized GED Testing Center (such as EvCC) can be counted towards a valid GED certificate. Please do not give these web-sites your money or your information.

GED National *does* plan to switch to computer-based testing on January 1, 2014.  Please plan to complete your testing before that time.

How to Schedule GED Testing

EvCC GED testing is done by appointment only. New testers should attend an In-take / Registration (no appointment needed). Note: this is not the same as paymet of the testing fee or registration for preparation classes. After doing In-Take / Registation, testers will need to make appointments for each of the five subject tests online, in person in the Testing Center, or by phone at 425-388-9288. Testing schedules are determined by local GED Testing Centers. The State GED Office does not maintain detailed information for individual test centers. To make an appointment to take the GED test, contact the test center nearest you.

Retesting may be done until minimum scores are obtained. Retesting fees are determined by the test center. In any calendar year you may retake any one of the five GED sub-tests three times. Scores do carry over from year to year until the test battery is changed.  It *is* expected that the test battery will be changed beginning January 1, 2014.
