EvCC Foundation Celebrates 25th Anniversary
EVERETT, WA – The Everett Community College Foundation celebrated 25 years of supporting EvCC students, services and college programs with a dinner Nov. 12 at EvCC.
The dinner included entertainment by the legendary comedian Stan Boreson, known as the “King of Scandinavian Humor.” Boreson was named one of EvCC’s Distinguished Alumni in 2007.
The EvCC Foundation was created in 1984 by retired EvCC Dean of Students Bill Deller, who was asked to start the Foundation by then-EvCC president Bob Drewel. Deller established the Foundation with $1,000 from community members and businesses.
Today, the Foundation president is Bill Deller’s son Mike Deller, who leads the all-volunteer EvCC Foundation Board of Directors.
In its 25th year, the Foundation will provide more than 150 college scholarships to students, equip classrooms with crucial technology, provide training for faculty and staff and help college programs thrive, said Mike Deller, an EvCC graduate and president and CEO of the Bank of Everett.
“The need for the EvCC Foundation is greater than ever before,” he said. “Too many potential college graduates cannot afford to earn their degrees. Helping these students is an investment in our community’s future. With a small amount of help now – one quarter of tuition, one book, one emergency loan – we can help students earn the degrees they need, and local employers get the graduates they want.”
