Governor Appoints Gigi Burke to Everett Community College Board of Trustees
EVERETT, WA – Gov. Christine Gregoire has appointed Everett businesswoman Gigi Burke to Everett Community College's Board of Trustees.
Burke has more than 20 years of business leadership experience, including working as an owner and vice president of Crown Distributing from 1989 to 2007.
"Not only is EvCC a valuable resource to our citizens, it is also a valuable resource to local businesses and a tool for bringing other businesses to our community," she said.
Burke will replace trustee Nancy Truitt Pierce, who completed her third term in 2009 after serving on the board since 1998.
"I am very grateful for Nancy's service, leadership and dedication to our students throughout the years," said EvCC President David Beyer. "I'm excited to welcome Gigi to the board and believe our college will benefit from her extensive business and community experience."
Burke's term is from 2010 through 2014.
Burke has also served as a Washington State Regional Transportation Commissioner, and was a member of the Washington Beer and Wine Wholesaler's Association (President 2003-2005), Snohomish County Executive Advisory Board, City of Everett Charter Review Committee, and Mountain Pacific Bank Board of Trustees.
She's a member of the Boys and Girls Club of Snohomish County Board of Trustees, Greater Everett Community Foundation Board, Providence Regional Medical Center General Children's Association Guild, and the South Everett/Mukilteo Rotary. She previously served as the Everett Public Schools Foundation President (1999-2001) and was a member of the YMCA Board of Trustees.
She is the recipient of the University of Puget Sound's National Alumni Association's Lifetime Alumni Achievement award, Greater Arlington Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Year award, and the Washington Association of School Administrators Community Leadership Award.
