Shannon Affholter, Vikki Strand Join
Everett Community College Foundation Board
EVERETT, WA – Everett city councilman Shannon Affholter and businesswoman Vikki Strand have joined the Everett Community College Foundation Board of Trustees.
“Shannon and Vikki join a dynamic group of community leaders who are committed to increasing access to higher education,” said John Olson, executive director of the EvCC Foundation and Vice President of College Advancement. “Everett Community College expects to serve more than 20,000 students this year, and the need for scholarships and other support is skyrocketing.”
Affholter, of Everett, is a Business Development Executive with Moss Adams LLP, where he deals primarily with business and management planning. He is also a member of the Everett City Council. Strand, of Mukileo, is a Business Development Manager for BECU and is responsible for BECU’s involvement and support in the community and managing business partners.
The Foundation Board is working to increase the number of scholarships available to students, support students with emergency loans and grants and seek out equipment and support to ensure students have the technology they need in the classroom.
Members of the board of directors serve as advisors to and ambassadors for the college and the EvCC Foundation. Selected by vote and serving 3-year terms, directors provide guidance, consultation and support in advancing the Foundation’s goals and services.
The Foundation, in partnership with corporations, businesses, foundations, and individuals, is committed to continuing the college’s tradition of serving as the region’s leading provider of academic and technical education.
