Watch The Absolutely True Film Series at EvCC
Free Movies about Native American Culture on Tuesdays
EVERETT, WA – Everett Community College is showing a series of free movies this month about Native American culture with the next film at 6 p.m. Feb. 9.
The Absolutely True Film Series includes movies that challenge the usual Hollywood treatment of Native Americans. The series is part of the year-long conversation about the book “The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian,” by Sherman Alexie.
All films are free and open to the public. Screenings are in EvCC’s Baker Hall, room 120. Everett Community College is located at 2000 Tower St.

Tuesday, February 9, 6 p.m.
Film: A witty but serious movie, critically acclaimed as one the best films of 1998. Screenplay by Sherman Alexie. Presenter: John Purdy, Western Washington University English faculty.
Tuesday, February 16, 6 p.m.
Film: Written and directed by Sherman Alexie, a moving drama about a young man caught between two cultures. Presenters: Deborah Murphy, Trish Davies and Paula Three Stars, EvCC faculty and staff.
Tuesday, February 23, 6 p.m.
Film: An exploration of Hollywood’s stereotypical portrayal of Native Americans and its effects. Presenter: Robert Horton, The Herald movie critic.
