EvCC Instructor Lori Wisdom-Whitley Wins Humanities Association Award
EVERETT, WA – Everett Community College communications instructor Lori Wisdom-Whitley has won an exemplary status award from the Washington Community Colleges Humanities Association.
Wisdom-Whitley, who teaches interpersonal communication and intercultural communication, received the award Oct. 26 in Seattle at the WCCHA conference. She was nominated by EvCC Humanities Center coordinator Joyce Walker.
“Her infectious enthusiasm and willingness to roll up her sleeves engages students and colleagues alike in Humanities activities, strengthening the discipline by deepening our personal understanding of it,” Walker said.
Wisdom-Whitley, of Tulalip, has coordinated EvCC’s Tuesday Travelogue series since 2008 through the college’s Humanities Center. The lunchtime talks by EvCC faculty, staff, student organizations and international students give listeners a way of traveling around the world through observations and photos.
She is also a member of the Humanities Center Faculty Steering Committee, helps select the center’s annual theme, participates in and brings her classes to humanities events and volunteers with the college’s international student program.
Wisdom-Whitley has worked at EvCC since 1994. She earned her master’s degree from Southern Illinois University and her bachelor’s from Iowa State University.
