EVERETT, Wash. – Sixteen Everett Community College Fire Academy recruits earned IFSAC Firefighter I & II and Hazardous Materials Awareness & Operations certification in December after completing 15 weeks of training.
“Through this intensive training, these recruits have become confident in the skills required to be a firefighter and are ready to provide that service to any fire department,” EvCC Fire Science program director Russell Colmore said.
Graduates include Tyler Beahan, Gabe Getty, Aleksandr Gorbunov, Sam Johnston, Cassandra Kaczka, Joshua Knight, Tyler Loring, Jacob McConkey, Lucas Montgomery, Blair Niemcziek, Chris Peterson, Jesse Phelps, David Pick, Sara Shaw, Justin Woodhouse and Edin Zecevic.
The drillmaster for the group was Dave Neyens, a retired Battalion Chief with the Everett Fire Department.

The next academy begins April 1. The academy meets the standards for IFSAC Firefighter I & II and Haz-Mat Awareness & Operations certification. Recruits receive training and certification at the Washington State Fire Academy for live fire training. Students can also earn a 90-credit Associates Applied Science Fire Science Degree.
Candidates applying for the Fire 100 Fire Academy must start with the website www.nationaltestingnetwork.com, then go to Everett Community College (Recruit in the Academy), complete the Ergometrics & CPAT tests and turn in the Medical/Respiratory application by Feb. 15, and attend a mandatory orientation at 9 a.m. March 2 at EvCC’s Index Hall, room 101.
