Police have arrested a suspect in the bank robbery and kidnapping in north Everett last week. The man was arrested in Tacoma about 11:30 a.m. today, according to an Everett Police Department statement.
The suspect allegedly kidhapped an Everett Community College student at gunpoint, forcing her to be his getaway driver for the holdup, police said earlier this week.

After learning of this incident, EvCC notified students Jan. 29 via student email, the college's website, and social media.
EvCC security patrols the campus and the streets next to the campus. Security is encouraging students, faculty, and staff to pay attention while walking to their cars, have keys ready, scan the area for anything out of the ordinary, make sure you're not being followed, and look around your car before getting in. Once you're in your car, lock your doors and leave. Report anything out of the ordinary to the police and security.

Bank Robbery & Kidnapping Investigation in Everett
Everett Police Major Crime Detectives investigating the Wells Fargo Bank robbery are releasing additional information about the case and are seeking the public’s help.
At about 5:00 p.m. on the evening of January 23, 2013, a female student attending Everett Community College is returning to her vehicle parked on a public street near the college. As the student nears her vehicle, a black man walks up, points a gun and demands she gets into her vehicle. Once inside, the man directs the student to drive to numerous locations around north Everett and the downtown district. At one point the man directs the student to park in downtown Everett. Before getting out, he threatens the student that if she leaves he will find and kill her since he knows her license plate number. The student is afraid and remains in the parked vehicle. The man returns and directs her to additional locations in Everett.
Just before 6:00 p.m., the man directs the student to drive to the Wells Fargo Bank at 1801 Broadway Ave and orders her to wait. The man returns within minutes and instructs the student to drive and drop him off near where he first abducted her.
The student is not injured and later drives to the police department to report the crime.
Detectives are now investigation the incident as a kidnapping and a bank robbery.

This was the original information Jan. 24 about the bank robbery, also from the Everett Police Department:
Everett, WA: The Everett Police Department is seeking the public’s help in catching a bank robber.
Just before 6:00 p.m. on January 23, 2012, a man entered the Wells Fargo Bank at 1801 Broadway Ave. He walked to an open teller window and asked if the bank cashed checks. When told yes, the man leaned close and pushed a note to the teller demanding money and threatened to kill the teller if he called police. The teller handed the man an undisclosed amount of money before the man walked out of the bank.
The man is described as black, between 20-30 years-old, about 5’11”, around 160 pounds with shoulder length black dreadlocks. He was wearing a dark blue beanie, a dark blue jean colored jacket, blue jeans and brown shoes. The man spoke with an African or French accent. There is a possibility the dreadlocks could be a wig.
A police K-9 track was attempted but ended in the parking lot where it is believed the man left in a vehicle.
There were no injuries.
