Celebrate the 50th Anniversary of MLK's "I Have a Dream" Speech Aug. 28 at EvCC
EVERETT, Wash. - Snohomish County will celebrate the 50th anniversary of Martin Luther King Jr.'s "I Have a Dream" speech at 6 p.m. Aug. 28 at Everett Community College's Henry M. Jackson Conference Center.
Snohomish County Executive John Lovick, Everett Mayor Ray Stephanson, Tulalip Tribes Chairman Mel Sheldon and former Everett city councilman Carl Gipson will speak.
“I’m truly humbled to join in this event honoring the work of Dr. King and the progress we have made toward equal civil rights for everyone,” said Snohomish County Executive John Lovick. “As Dr. King once said, ‘The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice.’ I believe we’ve made great strides since this historic event, but we need to continue our commitment to equality for everyone, in Snohomish County and throughout our country.”
The anniversary celebration is free and open to the public.
