Thank you for your interest in Everett Community College Cosmetology Program and congratulations on making an amazing career choice. The beauty industry has been very good to me and I would love to share my positive energy, passion and salon experiences with you. I look forward to providing students a quality education and the support they need to obtain a job in the salon of their choice.
My 19 years of teaching experience has been at the community college level. I have had the privilege of teaching and learning from over 1,200 future stylists. My expertise in teaching includes: Salon Management Skills, Theory, Basics Training, Advanced Lab, and the Licensing Preparation classes. I am knowledgable when using several product lines including: Paul Mitchell, Keune, Matrix, Kera Care, Framesi, Joico, Wella, OPI, Depileve, and Pharmagel. I have had advanced training on working with excessively curly hair, hair extensions, blow-dry styling, haircutting and creative coloring techniques. I believe in life-long learning; attending hair shows and other industry skill certification classes regularly. My professional development also includes participating in workshops and conferences to enhance my teaching skills.
It was an honor for me to be the recipient of the 2009 Washington Association of Occupational Educator award and I am very proud to serve as a mentor with the licensed professionals’ instructor training program. Through my teaching, professional associations and volunteer work with many community outreach events, I am a recognized professional leader in the cosmetology industry. It would be my honor to have you in the EvCC Cosmetology program.
For as long as I can remember, I always wanted to be involved in the beauty and hair industry. I use to visit my grandparents in Montana and go to their Beauty and Barber shops as a young child and into my teenage years. I guess one could say my creativity was engraved in my DNA and lead me to the beauty and barber industry.
I decided to attend school in Everett, Washington after meeting with an Instructor, Neil Hansen and seeing his passion for both the Barber and Cosmetology Profession. He inspired me to become a professional stylist and help educate me in barbering as well as cosmetology.
I began my career as a stylist in the Everett, WA area where I learned even more and am very grateful for the opportunities I had and the knowledge I gained from working 25+ years in the salon.
I wanted to do more, so I decided to use my knowledge and expertise to help mold the new and upcoming stylists. I have been teaching since 2008 and love working with the Students at EvCC School of Cosmetology. I have a passion for helping students master their technical skills and love watching their passion grow as they work through the program. I find great satisfaction in knowing that I help create the next generation of stylists in the Beauty industry.
Janelle L. Ling
My name is Janelle. I am one of the educators here at EvCC’s School of Cosmetology. I was inspired to go to beauty school after doing my sister’s hair for a wedding. I had so much fun with it, that shortly after that, I enrolled in a beauty school in North Seattle. I finished the Instructor Training program and started teaching in 1998. I have been teaching at EvCC’s School of Cosmetology since 2007.
I enjoy all aspects of teaching, but my true passion is in technical services, which include all hair color and perm services. I absolutely love teaching, and find it to be very rewarding.
Hello, my name is Tara. I am very excited to be joining you on this adventure you are about to take. I will be one of your instructors that you will be working with over your Cosmetology learning career. I have been in the Cosmetology industry now for 7 years and love what I do. I have a passion for all parts of the industry, but I would have to say that I have a true passion for the technical side of the industry. I have been educating at Everett Community College now for a year and growing.
I enjoy watching students advance as they move through the program. I look forward to working with in the future.
The positive learning environment that I maintain in my classroom empowers students to understand their individual learning styles, answer their own questions and ultimately, shape their careers in the cosmetology industry.
As the trends and techniques in the cosmetology industry change, so does my curriculum. I am constantly seeking to evolve my own skills so that my students can learn both the core foundations of cosmetology as well as new and cutting edge techniques.
My passion for cosmetology and desire for continued learning has helped me become skilled in many techniques, such as hair extensions, Japanese relaxers and balayage. I received my instructor's license in 2000 from the Gene Juarez Academy of Beauty, which is also where I held my first teaching position. I then took on a role as a color specialist in a salon and spa in Mill Creek.
In 2010 I received my esthetics license from Paroba College where I taught cosmetology and esthetics, but focused mainly on the instructor-training program. I am very excited and lucky to now be part of the team at EvCC’s cosmetology program.
I look forward to working with you and helping to pave the way for your new career!
