Basic and Developmental Education: East County

You can improve your math and English skills, prepare for and take the GED® test, learn English as a second languagefinish high school through the Youth Re-engagement program, or gain job training at EvCC's East County Campus. Transitional Studies and GED® Preparation

Learn basic reading, writing and math, and prepare for the GED® test. Transitional Studies classes are offered in the evenings at East County Campus, in Monroe. These classes are designed to prepare students to take the GED® test, and to continue into college-level certificate and degree programs. Classes cost $25 each quarter, and waivers may be available. Orientation and Assessment

New students and students who haven't taken these classes for two or more quarters must participate in an orientation and assessment session. Ongoing orientation and assessment may be available. Please call 425 259-8732 to sign up for the next orientation, which will take place on December 6, 2016.

Please be on time for your appointment and be prepared to stay for three hours. Also, make arrangements for child care and bring the following items:

  • Current photo ID
  • Social Security Number (optional)
  • Mailing address
  • $25 class registration fee (check, money order, credit or debit card)

GED en Español

Estas clases preparan al estudiante para tomar la versión en Español del examen de GED. El diploma GED que es equivalente al diploma escolar al nivel High School de los Estados Unidos.

Las clases, los libros de texto y todos los exámenes del programa son en español.

English Language Acquisition

The English Language Acquisition (ELA) department provides a variety of classes for students for whom English is not their first language. Classes are offered in the evenings at Leaders in Learning, in Monroe. Classes cost $25 each quarter, and meet Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, 6:10-9:10 p.m. If you have questions, please contact us by email at or call 425-259-8732.

Youth Re-Engagement Program

The Youth Re-Engagement Program (ECU3) is a free program that offers students the opportunity to prepare for the GED test or take classes to earn their high school diploma, with a case manager who provides individualized support.

I-BEST: Integrated Basic Education and Skills Training

Gain job training and college credits at the same time in the I-BEST program. EvCC's East County Campus offers a two-quarter Sustainable Office Skills program in Monroe.
