"The joy of teaching is what the students bring,” Day said. “It’s so wonderful the great things they could do – more than I was capable of. They were great people … and they still are.”
An award-winning piece of jewelry created by Day is on permanent display in the gallery. A scholarship for Everett Community College art students has also been established in Day’s name. To support the scholarship, contact the EvCC Foundation at 425-388-9948.
Day, who taught at Everett Junior College and Everett Community College from 1948 to 1974, “inspired generations of students to become artists,” said EvCC art instructor Sandra Lepper.
Day, who created the first EJC art gallery in the 1950s, inspired many well-known artists including internationally known artist and photographer Chuck Close.
