At Everett Community College, Graphic Design students learn to combine word and image to communicate ideas that connect client and audience. Using the latest digital technology or preparing a monotype in the printmaking studio, students use a variety of communication tools to create interactive websites, motion graphics, and publication design.

Our program begins with foundation studies in the formal principles of design, aesthetics and craftsmanship, using traditional and digital tools, after which students specialize in a print-based design, explore multimedia and website design, or digital illustration.

We challenge students to develop a personal style through experimentation with a wide range of media, print, advertising, book and magazine layouts, interactive communication, and 3D graphics.

Interdisciplinary, cross-disciplinary, and connections with our local business community, allow our students to apply their skills to commercial and nonprofit causes while collaborating with designers, illustrators, photographers, and students from other majors.

Students gain a deeper understanding of design with courses on design history, art history, and the language of visual communication.

By learning to create effective, beautiful design solutions that respect the client-audience connection, we prepare students to become successful graphic designers—whether they plan to become part of an established firm, or launch a studio of their own.
