Our Faculty are Experienced MTs
Medical transcription and editing courses at EvCC are instructed by highly experienced and skilled medical transcriptionists. Sue Krajewski, CMT, AHDI-F is the Program Director. She is a Certified Medical Transcriptionist (CMT) with over 30 years of experience in the field. Elizabeth (Betsy) Stam is the Instructional Director. She has been an independent contractor since 1996 and she has held a variety of training, editing, and supervisory positions. Pat Bowen, CMT, AHDI-F is a certified medical transcriptionist and fellow in AHDI.
Prior to beginning medical transcription courses, you should have a working knowledge of Microsoft Word and keyboarding skills by touch (minimum 45 words per minute). If you do not currently possess those skills you should consider completing the following courses at Everett Community College (or your local college) before beginning the medical transcription courses. (Note: If you do not reside within Washington State you would pay out-of-state tuition if you enrolled in any of these courses.)
You are responsible for providing a computer, software and Internet connection for your class. Please see computer requirements on the page "Is Online Study for Me?"

The text upgrade is a wonderful option for online students who would like to study the course while away from the computer. You may wish to purchase (with your own funds) the text upgrade directly from Career Step for $250 plus $29.95 shipping/handling. Registration & Payment
The Medical Transcription and Editing program is a self-support, non-tuition program. Classes start and end dates follow the regular EvCC academic calendar. Last date to register and pay (self pay, third-party funding, or proof of financial aid award) is due by the Registration & Payment Due Dates.
Payment can be made to the Cashier's Office in person in the Parks Student Union during business hours, or through the Student Kiosk. Payment can also be mailed to Everett Community College, Cashier's Office, 2000 Tower St., Everett, WA 98201-1390. Acceptable forms of payment include:
Withdrawal & Refunds
Deadline for 100% refund or to make changes to your schedule is no later than 4:30pm Pacific Time the fifth day of the quarter (100% refund is the quarterly fee less the value of the materials). There is no 50% refund option.
The student is responsible for officially withdrawing from the program. If you need to withdraw you must. No calls please, must be in writing. If you are unable to withdraw in person, please fax your request form to 425-388-9173. Note that if you have been awarded financial aid to attend this program you may be financially responsible for repaying all or part of the financial aid awarded to you.
Students who withdraw on or before the fifth day of the quarter must return their materials to Career Step, or will be billed for the equipment. Students are responsible for covering the expense of the return shipment; they must be received by Career Step within three weeks of the first day of the quarter. Contact Health Professions Service Center to receive detailed instructions on how to return your materials.
