Our nationally accredited program offers a certificate to students who wish to prepare as a multi-skilled professional working under the supervision of a physician or other licensed health carte provider. Medical assistants are educated to assist in all aspects of a medical practice and have both clinical and administrative responsibilities. Students can earn a Certificate in Medical Assisting and have the option to earn an Associate in Technical Arts (ATA) if interested. Our one quarter length program combines classroom instruction and clinical site experience to prepare graduates to work as phlebotomists. The primary responsibility of a phlebotomist is to collect blood for laboratory analysis. Upon successful course completion students are eligible to sit for the national certification exam through the American Society of Clinical Pathologists. This set of three classes is targeted at clinical and administrative healthcare professionals, either those preparing for or those already in the practice setting, to provide the skills and knowledge that will enable professionals to reduce risk and establish a safe working environment. The Physical Education Department offers a fully transferable program of study for students who wish to fulfill their lower division requirements at EvCC prior to transferring to a university for a major in Physical Education, Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Health and Fitness, Human Performance, or a related area.
