Nursing Program Testimonials
Dale – Registered Nurse
Class of 2008

When I first started at Everett Community College, I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do.
I chose nursing because it’s a good career, and I won’t have to struggle my whole life to find a job and pay the bills. It was an actual career, not a job.
Plus, I knew it would be pretty easy to find work. There’s a major shortage of nurses, and the need for all medical professionals (medical assisting, phlebotomy, and more) is expected to keep increasing.
I could tell my instructors at EvCC really wanted us to succeed –and everyone in my class helped and encouraged each other.
Before I graduated, nursing department instructor Karen Brasfield got me an interview for an ICU nursing job at Providence Everett Medical Center. Providence is just down the street from the college and is a strong supporter of EvCC’s nursing program.
I got the job. Every day is different, and I’m constantly learning. One minute I’ll be giving a report to a doctor and then I’ll be in another room giving CPR and then I’m working with the families of my patients.
I’ll never forget when one family told me, “Thank you so much for treating our mom like your mom.”
I encourage you to check out the health care field. Hope you love it as much as I do.

Alicia – Registered Nurse
Class of 2008

The nursing program at EvCC is the only nursing program I applied to. I really wanted to go there. The program has a great reputation and was close to home and convenient to attend.
I’m glad I went there.
My instructors were incredible and prepared me very well for my job. I was hired as a nurse at Valley General Hospital in Monroe before I even graduated.
I love being able to support, comfort and care for people at difficult times in their lives.
Now I am pursuing my Bachelor’s of Science degree in Nursing at the University of Washington.

Nursing Assistant Certified Program Testimonials
Autumn - NAC Student
Class of 2009

I chose Everett Community College because the Registered Nursing program is one of the best in the state. I didn’t know I’d also enjoy small classes and one-on-one attention from teachers. Questions get answered. Teachers know me.
I’m starting with the Nursing Assistant Certified program, which will allow me to start working in the healthcare field while pursuing my RN degree.
Then, I’ll fulfill my dream of becoming a nurse.

Medical Assistant Program Testimonials
Candace - Medical Assistant
Class of 2008

You’re always young enough to pursue your dreams. Take it from me.
Since I was a 16-year-old candy striper (volunteer) at a hospital in Idaho, I have wanted to work in the medical field, but when I graduated from high school, I couldn’t afford to attend the only college in the area with medical training. So, when I retired from Verizon after 29 years, I decided to pursue my dream.
I chose EvCC over other shorter medical assisting programs because I believed a college education would provide me with a broader, more thorough knowledge of the skills required and that employers would prefer a certificate and degree from an accredited college.
My choice paid off.
I earned a certificate in medical assisting plus an associate degree in technical arts at EvCC. Now I’m working in the Everett Clinic Dermatology Department. My education provided me with the administrative, clinical and personal skill sets required for a successful career as a medical assistant.
My advice for anyone considering medical assisting is: “Never stop learning.”
