Carrie Olivia Adams works in publishing in Chicago, where she is also Poetry Editor for Black Ocean. Her poems and criticism have appeared in such journals as DIAGRAM, Cranky, Mare Nostrum, No Tell Motel and Verse. Her first full-length collection, Intervening Absence, was published in March 2009 by Ahsahta Press. The poems in this collection “delve into a place defined by air and sky, each movement another scene of a movie re-filmed many times over.”

Stacey Levine is the author of My Horse and Other Stories (PEN/West Fiction Award, 1994) and the novels Dra-- and Francis Johnson (finalist, Washington State Book Award, 2005.) Her short story collection, The Girl With Brown Fur will be published in 2009.

A Puschcart Prize nominee, her fiction has appeared in The Denver Quarterly, Fence, Tin House, The Fairy Tale Review, The Washington Review, The Santa Monica Review, Yeti, and other venues. She has also contributed to the American Book Review, Bookforum, The Seattle Post-Intelligencer, Fodor's City Guides, The Stranger, The Chicago Reader, and other Publications.

Special Reading: A Marriage of Naturalist Nonfiction & Poetry

Langdon Cook was a senior book editor at Amazon.com until he left the corporate world in 2004 to live in a cabin off the grid with his wife and son. Now a freelance writer and blogger, he has written for Gray's Sporting Journal, Outside, Fly Fisherman, Northwest Palate, The Stranger, Seattle Metropolitan, and numerous other publications. He is a graduate of the University of Washington's MFA program and a recipient of PEN Northwest's Margery Boyden Wilderness Writing Residency. He lives in Seattle, WA.

Martha Silano is the author of two poetry collections, Blue Positive (Steel Toe Books 2006), and What the Truth Tastes Like, winner of the William & Kingman Page poetry book award and published by Nightshade Press in 1999. Her poems have been widely anthologized, and were recently selected by David Wagoner for inclusion in the Best American Poetry 2009. She is a graduate of the University of Washington's MFA program and a recipient of PEN Northwest's Margery Boyden Wilderness Writing Residency. She lives in Seattle and teaches English at Bellevue College.
