What is the Counseling, Advising and Career Center?
The Counseling, Advising and Career Center is a place where students explore career choices, receive help with college success skills and build life skills. Students can use the Career Center for career research, meet with a professional counselor, and use the career assessment tools to develop appropriate educational and career goals.
Services at the Center are provided by professional counselors and support staff who specialize in student success in educational, career and personal development.

When can I see a counselor?
Counselors are on campus to meet with students and potential students. Walk-in counseling is available, please check our right bar for current hours.

What services do counselors provide?
Counselors provide you with professional confidential counseling for career, personal and academic issues. Counselors are available to help you with success strategies, career planning and short-term personal counseling.
Counselors also work with students through workshops and seminars, as well as teaching Human Development classes.
Counselors are available to help you if you are having difficulties with grades, stress time managements, or choosing a career or major.

Are the counseling and advising services confidential?
The Counseling, Advising, and Career Center Staff may not disclose any information about students unless they are given written consent from the student. Counselors can explain some exceptions such as subpoenas that are issued by a court, or incidents when you or others are at risk of danger or harm.

What services does an advisor provide?
Advisors help students in academic matters. Advisors in the CACC help new, undecided students and Human Service transfer students, as well as providing general transfer advising and unofficial transcript evaluations for entering and graduating students.
Students who have chosen their area of study or major should be working with a faculty advisor in that program.

What assessment tools are available through the Counseling Advising and Career Center?
The Career Center has evaluation tools available-FREE- to explore personality traits, interest and potential careers.
Choices, as well as the WOIS program are user-friendly computer programs designed to help you understand yourself and what careers would fit your unique set of talents, values, and goals. A follow-up appointment with a Career Counselor is suggested.
Other assessments are offered through Human Development classes and open seminars given periodically on campus. There is usually a fee for these programs.

The Career Center has tools available to help students understand the programs offered at EvCC. Also, information concerning other colleges and programs in the state or out of state are available for you as well.

Educational Information - Catalogs for Washington State Schools, 2-year community colleges, 4-year colleges and universities, and technical and vocational schools. Where can I get my transcripts?
You can get an Unofficial Transcript from EvCC's web page. The Internet is also a great resource for collecting transcripts from other schools you've attended. Just go to an internet search engine such as Google and type in the name of the college you went to and you should be able go to that college's web page and see if unofficial transcripts are available.

I haven't attended EvCC for 5+ years. Am I still in the system?
Once you are in the system, you are always in the system. If you have not attended for some time you may have to apply for an adjustment of status. Students who have not attended EvCC within the past twelve months may register for open registration or may gain priority registration by submitting an application a sufficient amount of time in advance.

What is a curriculum guide?
Curriculum Guides are available to assist students in planning their educational programs. They describe what classes you need to take to get the degree you want. There are general AAS Transfer Degree Curriculum Guides, and also program- specific ATA Curriculum guides. Most of them require you to take classes from a variety of different areas including basic communication and quantitative skills, humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences. They come with a checklist for courses and suggested advisors for areas of interest. Advisors in the Counseling, Advising, and Career Center can help you plan your AAS degree.

What's an Associate's Degree?
An Associate's Degree is a 90 credit degree generally; a couple have more credits. It takes approximately six quarters to earn if you go full time (15 credits per quarter). The college participates in a state-wide agreement that enables students who hold the direct transfer degree (Associates in Arts and Sciences Option II [AAS] and Associates of Science [AS])to fulfill the lower division requirements for most colleges and universities in the state of Washington and some in Oregon. There is also an Associate in Technical Arts Degree (ATA) available to students that want to sharpen skills, enter or advance within their careers, or desire to enter the work force after completing the ATA Degree requirements and not transfer to a four year college.

What is a certificate?
A certificate does not usually require as much time as an Associate's Degree. It can prepare you to work in a variety of specific vocations. This link will show you a complete list of certificates here.

How much is a credit?
A credit is equivalent to approximately one hour of class per week for ten weeks. EvCC Tuition.
