Center for Disability Services
What does the Center for Disability Services do?
The Center for Disability Services (CDS) office at Everett Community College provides qualified students with documented disabilities an equal opportunity to participate in the variety of educational, recreational, and social opportunities available at Everett Community College. CDS provides academic accommodations for students with a documented permanent or temporary physical, mental, or sensory disability; resource and referral information; and advocacy support as necessary and appropriate.
How are accommodations determined?
Accommodations are determined on an individual basis and may include services such as campus advocacy, testing accommodations (including additional time or scribes), notetakers (copy of notes from another student in class), Sign Language interpreters, books in alternative format, equipment loans, information and referrals.
How does a student request services through CDS?
Prospective students are invited to contact the Center for Disability Services office prior to the beginning of the quarter to find out about the documentation requirements and arrange for an intake interview with the Director. Students who require accommodations such as books in alternative format, or Sign Language interpreters need to contact the Center at least six weeks prior to enrollment to arrange for such accommodations.
