Academic Readiness Center
College Reading and Study Skills
The Academic Readiness Center is an integral part of the college preparation curriculum for students who need to improve reading speed, comprehension, and vocabulary skills, or who need to improve their study skills and habits before entering transfer-level classes. Courses are offered at two levels and provide individualized assistance for students who want to succeed in the college environment.
The Bridge to College Success
Beginning fall quarter, 2007, the Bridge Lab will be open daily in the Academic Readiness Center, or ARC, in Rainier 104. The Bridge to College Success invites students of all ages, educational backgrounds and career paths to maximize their learning potential. Through pre-college and college level courses, students gain skills and strategies for managing difficult classes, mastering advanced reading, using technologically effectively and adapting to college culture. The Bridge provides a supportive environment that prepares students for academic success by offering them skills, confidence and knowledge focused toward life-long learning.
