FREE Event (no tickets required)
An Dochas, Gaelic for “the hope” is a talented Irish band with a variety of cross cultural influences. They bring an enticing blend of traditional Irish music with the versatility of World influences and the energy of Rock to the stage. Using an array of traditional and non traditional instruments including the guitar, bass, drums, Uillean pipes, whistles, Bodhràn and fiddle, they are able to present a dynamic performance of moving ballads, as well as, rowdy comical numbers.
An Dochas has the privilege of working with the Haran Irish Dancers to accompany this brilliantly original music with explosive Irish step dancing. This talented group of dancers incorporates lovely slip jigs danced in soft shoe, figure dance and choreographies, Irish folk tales dramatized through song and dance, and fast moving dead accurate hard shoe dancing. They have won many regional and national competitions and two of their principal dancers have qualified for world championships.
Together these two talented groups have performed to sold-out audiences throughout the U.S. and Canada and have shared the stage with such internationally acclaimed artists as Cherish the Ladies, Solas, and Chris Thile of Nickle Creek.
An Dochas and The Haran Irish Dancers kicked off our 2008 Artist and Lecture Series, and is back by popular demand this year. Due to the overwhelming number of requests for us to bring this group again, by both people who missed the performance and those who simply wish to see it again, we decided to bring them for an encore presentation. Never have we received such a phenomenal response from one of our performances, and it is our pleasure to invite them back for another round of superb music and dance which is highly anticipated by all.

Black Violin
Monday, April 6, 2009 @ 6:30pm
Everett Civic Auditorium
2415 Colby Avenue
Everett, WA
FREE Event (no tickets required)
The group consisting of two classically trained violinists and their DJ, Black Violin combine jazz, hip-hop, funk and classical to form their own unique blend of artistic masterpieces. These musical styles come together to produce a signature sound that is not quite maestro, not quite emcee. They use a variety of influences ranging from Shostakovich and Bach to Nas and Jay-Z. This unique trio blends classical with modern to create a rare sound that has never been heard before.
The members of Black Violin first learned to play through their extraordinary music program in school, Wil-B at the viola at age 14 and Kev Marcus at the violin at age 9. After graduating from high school, both Wil and Kev were granted full music scholarships to Florida State and Florida International University respectively. It was here where their talent was honed further.
They eventually reconvened and formed the group Black Violin. Their talent and addictive sound began creating fame for themselves almost immediately. In 2004, the group joined Alicia Keys on stage at the Billboard Music Awards. In 2005, the group was awarded the title of Apollo Legend by the esteemed Apollo Theater in Harlem.
After this impressive start, Black Violin was contacted by Mike Shinoda, the lead singer of Linkin Park, who invited them to join the world tour with his hip-hop side project, Fort Minor. They have also collaborated with many famous musicians including P. Diddy, Kanye West, Fifty Cent, Areosmith, Tom Petty, Aretha Franklin and the Eagles.
This interesting and vibrant blend of classical, hip-hop, funk and jazz comes together magnificently when played by these talented artists whose incredible sound will blow you away.
