EvCC Student Wins City's Prodigies for Peace Contest

Everett Community College student Markus Smith won first place in the City of Everett's 2012 Prodigies for Peace essay and art contest in the adult category for his essay about why he volunteers with the youth of Snohomish County. Smith, 25, was honored Jan. 12, 2012 at the annual diversity partnering reception hosted by the city to celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

EvCC Invites Community to Engagement Sessions

Everett Community College is asking community members to share their thoughts and ideas for the college's future priorities at a series of events beginning Feb. 8, 2012.

The four events in February and March are part of the college's long-range strategic planning process. The college wants input from a cross-section of the Snohomish County community and surrounding region, including those who are not already connected with the college.

High School Teams Vie for Hi-Q Academic Quiz Trophy

Thirteen Snohomish and Island County Hi-Q teams are starting three months of intense academic competition Jan. 10, each hoping to win the 2012 championship trophy.

Hi-Q is the nation's longest-running academic quiz competition, run locally by Everett Community College.

Corporate & Continuing Education Center Moves During Remodel

Everett Community College's Corporate & Continuing Education Center will move to 9930 Evergreen Way in January while its office at 2333 Seaway Blvd. undergoes a renovation. The temporary location is about three miles away from the Center's current home. The Center will move back to its Seaway Boulevard location in September.

Providence Wins National Award for Partnership with EvCC

The Council for Resource Development is honoring Providence Regional Medical Center Everett as the Benefactor of the Year for Region 10 for the hospital's exceptional support for Everett Community College and its students. The award will be presented in Washington, D.C. on Nov. 11. Region 10 includes Alaska, Idaho, Oregon, Washington, British Columbia and Yukon Territories. The council is an affiliate of the American Association of Community Colleges.
