Holocaust Survivor Speaks May 14

Four people who lived through the Holocaust will tell their stories this spring as part of Everett Community College's Surviving the Holocaust forums. The forums, now in their ninth year, are part of Everett Community College's Humanities 150 class "Surviving the Holocaust," which includes written, filmed and personal accounts from eyewitnesses. Speakers were arranged through the Washington State Holocaust Education Resource Center in Seattle. The presentations are open to the public and are from noon to 2 p.m. in EvCC's Baker Hall 120 from April 16-May 28.

Free Concert May 15 - Portland Taiko

Everett Community College's 2008 Artist and Lecture Series includes three dynamic performances of music from around the world - all for free. The series starts on Feb. 26 with An Dochas and the Haran Irish Dancers, continues April 19 with Step Afrika, and ends with Portland Taiko May 15.

The Artist and Lecture Series concludes with a performance by Portland Taiko Ensemble at 6 p.m. May 15 at the Everett Civic Auditorium, 2415 Colby Ave.

Everett Community College business students will have 10 minutes Feb. 19 to convince a panel of local business experts to award them start-up funding to launch their own companies. Three teams will compete for $1,000-$1,500 in college-funded loans as part of EvCC's School of Business Design Entrepreneurship I and II sequence.

Art Gallery Renamed for Former Instructor Russell Day

Everett Community College is renaming its Northlight Gallery in honor of artist Russell Day, EvCC's first art instructor and founder of the campus gallery. The gallery was renamed Feb. 8 at a reception for Day, 95, and a group of his former art students. The announcement was a surprise to Day.
