Are you interested in starting your academic career at Everett Community College, or coming back to school after many years? The Center for Disability Services (CDS) can help you get on track to achieve your goals.
The first step is to submit documentation of your disability to the CDS Office. Prospective students are strongly encouraged to submit documentation and get set up with the CDS office as far in advance as possible in order to make sure your accommodations are in place by the first day of class. Some accommodations, such as Sign Language interpreters and books in alternative format can take six weeks or more to process. Accommodations are not retroactive, so the sooner you get started, the better!
If you are already attending classes and are experiencing difficulties due to a disability, contact CDS as soon as possible to discuss how we may be able to help.
The cost of providing documentation is the responsibility of the student. Documentation must be provided by a licensed professional who is qualified to diagnose such disabilities. Students with more than one type of disability should provide appropriate documentation for each disability that may impact them in the classroom.

Once you have submitted your documentation, the next step is to schedule an intake appointment. This appointment usually takes about an hour to an hour and a half. During this time, we will introduce you to our services and discuss with you the possible impact of your disability on your academic performance and what accommodations might benefit you. You will also have a chance to ask questions and get referrals to other areas on campus if necessary.

It is recommended that you talk with a CDS staff member who can help you identify areas of difficulty and discuss possible accommodations. We will introduce you to our services, explain what accommodations we may be able to provide, and can give you information on other resources you may be able to utilize here at school.
