Nursing Careers Testimonials

Dale – Registered Nurse, Class of 2008

Dale testimonial"When I first started at Everett Community College, I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do. I chose nursing because it’s a good career, and I won’t have to struggle my whole life to find a job and pay the bills. It was an actual career, not a job. Plus, I knew it would be pretty easy to find work. There’s a major shortage of nurses, and the need for all medical professionals (medical assisting, phlebotomy, and more) is expected to keep increasing. I could tell my instructors at EvCC really wanted us to succeed –and everyone in my class helped and encouraged each other. Before I graduated, nursing department instructor Karen Brasfield got me an interview for an ICU nursing job at Providence Everett Medical Center. Providence is just down the street from the college and is a strong supporter of EvCC’s nursing program. I got the job. Every day is different, and I’m constantly learning. One minute I’ll be giving a report to a doctor and then I’ll be in another room giving CPR and then I’m working with the families of my patients. I’ll never forget when one family told me, “Thank you so much for treating our mom like your mom. I encourage you to check out the health care field. Hope you love it as much as I do." - Dale

Alicia – Registered Nurse, Class of 2008

Nursing Testimonial AliciaThe nursing program at EvCC is the only nursing program I applied to. I really wanted to go there. The program has a great reputation and was close to home and convenient to attend. I’m glad I went there. My instructors were incredible and prepared me very well for my job. I was hired as a nurse at Valley General Hospital in Monroe before I even graduated. I love being able to support, comfort and care for people at difficult times in their lives. Now I am pursuing my Bachelor’s of Science degree in Nursing at the University of Washington."  - Alicia
