Frequently Asked Questions
What costs are covered under the Tuition Payment Plan?
The Tuition Payment Plan covers tuition and fees only, other miscellaneous charges like parking, testing, ORCA bus passes, and other miscellaneous charges, are not covered by the Nelnet Tuition Payment Plan.
How much does it cost to enroll in the Tuition Payment Plan?
There is a $20 (non-refundable) enrollment fee per quarter due when you enroll in the Tuition Payment Plan. Other possible costs are from Nelnet, a $30 charge for insufficient funds or wrong account information.
Payments under this plan are interest-free.
What are my Payment Options?
Automatic payments from your checking or savings account (ACH), or credit/debit card (Nelnet accepts VISA, Mastercard, American Express and Discover). As a note if you process your payment via ACH and are later due a refund, the refund will be processed as a paper check sent out to the address you have on file with EvCC.
I enrolled in the tuition payment plan, then withdrew from my classes, however, I received a notification that I still owe?
The Tuition Payment Plan does not replace the official college refund policy. Our refund policy allows for 100% refund through the first week of the quarter and then 50% refund through the 20th calendar day of the term. You may still owe tuition if you withdraw from classes during the refund period.
I applied for Financial Aid/Veteran Affairs Benefits and would like to use the Tuition Payment Plan to start classes. Do I still owe if I miss my payment for the quarter?
Yes, you still owe the cost of tuition and fees. By signing up for the Tuition Payment Plan, you are agreeing to pay in full any tuition costs on the monthly automatic payment deadlines, regardless of whether you have been awarded financial aid or are waiting for a check from Veterans Affairs. If you cannot meet the payment obligations of the plan, you should not use the Tuition Payment Plan.
Please do not assume your balance will automatically adjust if financial aid is received or a class is dropped or added. You should review your agreement balance online.
I enrolled in the Tuition Payment Plan and added or dropped classes. What should I do?
If you add or change classes (including any classes added from a waitlist) and your tuition and fees increase, your tuition payment plan amount and payments will be increased on your next payment, provided there are at least 10 business days prior to the next scheduled payment (outside the 10-day time limit any changes will be adjusted on the remaining scheduled payments). You will receive an email notification the next business day if there is any change in the pre-authorized payment amount. If the 10 days prior fall on a weekend or holiday, the deadline to change your next payment amount is the last business day prior to the weekend of holiday.
If you drop a class (including dropping a class added from a waitlist) and your tuition and fees decrease, your tuition payment plan amount will be decreased on your next payment, provided there are at least three business days prior to the scheduled payment date (outside the three-day time limit any changes will be adjusted to the remaining scheduled payments).
What if someone else is paying on my behalf?
If someone is paying on your behalf, you MUST first set them up as an Authorized Payer in Nelnet.
An Authorized Payer that is paying on behalf of the student must first be set up and added by the student as an Authorized Payer in Nelnet.
What happens if I am unable to pay my account in full by the deadline?
If any payments fail, we will have a hold placed on your EvCC account indicating a balance is still owing. The hold will prevent you from registering for classes until the debt is paid in full at the Cashier's Office. No new payment plan will be allowed for the current debt.
