People & Process - Current Status
People
As stated in the vision statement, Everett Community College creates a better world one successful student at a time. This vision is realized only through the efforts of the more than 800 diverse employees at the institution.
Employee salaries represent a significant portion of the annual budget. Determinations of salaries are based on collective bargaining, state salary surveys, and extra duties. More information is available from state offices for classified positions, exempt positions, and faculty positions.
Investing in employees extends beyond salaries, and requires deliberate resource stewardship. The College strives to that end through many of the processes described in this summary of the current status of People and Processes at EvCC.
Professional development opportunities are available to all employees. Numerous workshops, seminars, training sessions, wellness activities, and other events are offered on campus every year. There are also targeted offerings for the faculty, classified, and exempt staff. Additionally, employees can individually apply for professional development funds.
The College strives to maximize its resources by inviting its employees to take advantage of programs and other opportunities on campus. Some of these incentives include free and reduced-price courses through The Corporate and Continuing Education Center, wellness classes and activities, access to library resources and services, membership in the Five Star Consortium to promote instructional coordination and collaboration across institutions, workshops and seminars through The Center for Transformative Teaching, reduced or free tuition rates, an annual Teaching and Learning retreat, and a Leadership Academy.
Processes
In addition to investing in its employees, EvCC aims to identify opportunities to streamline and increase institutional effectiveness. Efforts in this vein include the process improvement tool LEAN, data sharing agreements with K12 partners and other institutions, shared expense of benefits for part-time faculty teaching at multiple colleges, and participation in user groups such as Payroll/HR systems and statewide contracts through the SBCTC.
Relationships with other organizations and entities are also important to the college, as many institutional goals are shared community efforts. Specifically, this includes business and community participation on advisory boards, collaboration with other libraries, joint visual and fine art events, and numerous outreach programs.
