Feedback on Purpose Governance Models

The Shared Governance Task Force developed two proposed governance models for consideration by the campus community. EvCC Proposed Shared Governance Model A is adapted from the governance system at Walla Walla Community College, and EvCC Proposed Shared Governance Model B Is adapted from the governance system at Cascadia Community College.

Each model is represented as a diagram; the illustrations show both the various entities that comprise each shared governance structure and the relationship between them.  Cathy Leaker explained both models at the Share-out events in the beginning of June. Please watch the Shared Governance Share Out #2 meeting.

Following the Share outs, a survey was sent to the campus community and feedback collectedpdf icon

The feedback indicated that campus members were divided about the two models. In general, campus members liked the simplicity of Model A but liked the broader representation and inclusion of functional expertise in Model B.

Governance Model A showing 121 responses total split votes 50.4% and 49.6% Governance Model B with 121 responses split vote 49.6% and 50.4%

The Shared Governance Task Force made the decision to combine the two models into a hybrid model and recommended the hybrid model for adoption to the President.
