EvCC Shared Governance Task Force

In January 2020, President Daria Willis appointed a Shared Governance Task Force and charged us with developing a set of recommendations on how formal shared governance might be designed and implemented at EvCC.

Between January 2020 and April 2021, the EvCC Shared Governance Task Force completed the following tasks:

  • Agreed upon a definition of shared governance for EvCC and developed a more detailed Statement of Purpose to guide both its design and function
  • Reviewed and discussed a series of resources on Shared Governance
  • Evaluated different community college governance structures from across the state and adapted two for possible adoption at EvCC
  • Scheduled and conducted feedback sessions in Spring 2021 during which the Task Force shared two proposed governance structures and gather input from the wider campus community
  • Distributed a survey seeking feedback from college constituents on the two models
  • Analyzed feedback, developed a third "hybrid" shared governance model based on that feedback, and recommended the hybrid model to President Willis for implementation in AY 2021-2022.
