EvCC has played an important role in Hollee Seaward’s family’s education. “My grandmother graduated EvCC in 1986 with her Associate's degree in Arts and Sciences,” Seaward said. “It is an honor that I get to follow in her footsteps.” After graduating with a DTA in Journalism and Mass Media Communications in June, Seaward is transferring to Washington State University Everett to pursue a degree in Integrated Strategic Communications with a minor in Business Administration.

What did you study at EvCC?

Why did you choose EvCC?

EvCC has been the building block for my family's education. My grandmother graduated EvCC in 1986 with her Associate's degree in Arts and Sciences. It is an honor that I get to follow in her footsteps. EvCC is close to home and has allowed me to attend college debt free.

Who helped you succeed at EvCC? (faculty member, staff). What did that person do to help you?

Andrew Wahl was my advisor and I can't thank him enough for the support he gave me during my time here. My very first quarter here at EvCC was in the fall of 2020 when everything was strictly online. It was a challenge mentally to make it through my courses without the in-person environment. Wahl gave me the encouragement I needed to push through and I'm beyond grateful he did because I wouldn't be where I am today without him.

What advice do you have for new EvCC students?

My advice to new EvCC students would be to take advantage of joining clubs, sports, and student leadership positions offered at EvCC. Surrounding yourself with people who have the same drive and passions as you will not only benefit your mental health but will also open doors that you never thought you'd get.

What do you plan to do next? (Job, transfer, etc.)

I am transferring to Washington State University (WSU) Everett in the Fall of 2022 to major in Integrated Strategic Communications with a minor in Business Administration. Recently, I got hired as the new Vice President of student government there and it has been a huge honor. I love the people I work with, advocating for students, and making new connections!

Describe the best experience you had at EvCC.

The best experience I had at EvCC was joining the student newspaper, The Clipper. I got hired as their Social Media Manager and it has boosted my resume and qualifications that are needed for future jobs. I've made many connections and friendships there that I will cherish forever. Being a part of The Clipper has given me the confidence needed to step out of my comfort zone!
