Who Needs to Test
For students who do not qualify for a placement test waiver, EvCC requires the Accuplacer placement test for new students who are taking more than 7 credits or taking classes that have an English, math, or reading level prerequisite. Note: If you took the COMPASS placement test within the past two year, those scores still work for placement; you do not need to retest with Accuplacer.
The Accuplacer test is untimed and is not pass/fail. It is a tool to help you and your advisor select the right classes for you to be successful.
You will receive your test results immediately after you finish testing. Your results will include information about your English and math placement. For most students, your next step after testing is to meet with an advisor and select classes.
Testing is by walk-in and no appointment is necessary. Allow plenty of time to complete testing, which typically runs 1 ½ to 2 hours. We recommend you start your test at least two hours before the office closes. All testing stops when the office closes, but tests can be saved and finished on another day.
