Retired EvCC President David Beyer earns ACCT Pacific Region CEO award

Retired EvCC President David BeyerEVERETT, Wash. – The Association of Community College Trustees will present the Pacific Region Chief Executive Officer award to retired Everett Community College President David Beyer in October.

Beyer is one of five presidents receiving chief executive officer awards for their regions. Presidents recognized at the regional level will contend for the national-level 2019 Marie Y. Martin Chief Executive award. 

Beyer’s nomination notes his leadership and commitment to making equity the central principal driving cultural change and institutional transformation at EvCC.

“His efforts to build partnerships with business, industry, the K-12 system and under-represented populations has resulted in groundbreaking innovation, effective programming and constantly improving rates of student success,” wrote EvCC board member Mike Deller. 

Beyer will receive the award at the ACCT Leadership Congress in San Francisco. 

“I’m deeply honored by this award and am grateful for the opportunity to have worked with outstanding students, faculty, staff and trustees at EvCC,” Beyer said. 

During his 13 years at EvCC, Beyer led an institution that educates more than 19,000 students per year at several locations throughout Snohomish County, with most students at the college’s main campus in Everett. In the past decade, EvCC has added more than $150 million in new construction. 

“I’m excited to see President Beyer recognized for his leadership,” current EvCC President Daria Willis said. “We are committed to continuing the equity and student success work he started so students can stay close and go far.”
