Student Civic Leadership Awards
These awards recognize outstanding student leaders for their work in civic engagement and social entrepreneurship, organized by Washington Campus Coalition. EvCC’s leadership team selected Guzman and Seo for this award based on nominations from the campus community.
Guzman, 21, of Bothell, is a passionate student leader dedicated to human welfare and social justice. As co-president of the Latinx Student Union, she provides students with hands-on political education and engagement opportunities. As an organizer with Communities for Our Colleges (C4C), she advocates at the state level and advances policies that improve educational access, including a recent victory ensuring immigration status doesn't impact professional licensure.
Seo, 19, of Daejeon, South Korea, is a compassionate student leader whose work as a Resident Assistant reflects her commitment to community. Her involvement in Student LIFE, student organizations, and the International Student Center shows her values of servant leadership and cross-cultural understanding, aligning with her goal of entering the nursing profession. She is a positive force on campus, modeling civic engagement and fostering a strong sense of belonging for those around her.
All-Washington Academic Team
Molineux, Ronyak and Stout are among the state’s top scholars representing Washington’s 34 community and technical colleges. The award recognizes outstanding students who have demonstrated commitment to success in the classroom and in the communities where they live.
Molineux, 26, of Marysville, is a pre-nursing student driven by a passion for supporting new mothers. After struggling with breastfeeding postpartum during COVID, she found life-changing help from a compassionate lactation consultant. This experience ignited her desire to become one herself, ensuring that other mothers receive the same care and encouragement. Inspired by her daughter and family, she is committed to making a difference in maternal and infant health.
Ronyak, 15, a Colville Tribe descendant, is a passionate biomedical engineering scholar. Before graduating from high school at age 14, he enrolled at EvCC. He has researched technology for editing defective DNA in cancer cells, with the goal of one day providing more reliable treatment options. He’s active in Phi Theta Kappa, Teen Innovators, and the Biomedical Engineering Society. A public speaker and advocate, he has addressed Congress on autism and shares insights via YouTube, positioning himself as a future leader in medicine and autism awareness.
Driven by a passion for education and personal growth, Stout, 19, of Granite Falls, saw firsthand the challenges of financial instability, which fueled her determination to succeed. Balancing full-time college, work, and home responsibilities, she has developed strong time management skills and resilience. Inspired by extraordinary teachers and volunteer experiences in elementary schools, she is passionate about shaping young minds and hopes to become an educator who makes a lasting impact.
The All-Washington team members are eligible for scholarships ranging from $1,000 to $27,000 at a variety of Washington state public and private schools.
