EVERETT, Wash. – Everett Community College students now have a clear, guaranteed path to earning their bachelor’s degree at Western Washington University thanks to a new guaranteed transfer admission program announced today by the two institutions.

The new agreement ensures that EvCC students who complete an eligible associate degree and meet academic requirements will be guaranteed admission to Western, one of Washington's top public universities.

“This partnership gives our students a direct path to a four-year degree and removes uncertainty,” said Diane Paige, Executive Dean of Transfer Education at EvCC. “We’re excited to make transferring to Western seamless and to support students as they plan their educational journey from their first day at EvCC.”

Under the agreement, EvCC students are eligible for guaranteed admission to Western if they:

  • Earn either an Associate in Arts-Direct Transfer Agreement (AA-DTA) or Associate in Science-Transfer (AS-T) degree at EvCC.
  • Earn a total GPA of 2.5 or higher for all classes.
  • Earn at least a 2.0 GPA in their last quarter before transferring to Western.

Students admitted through the program will enter Western as juniors prepared to continue toward a bachelor’s degree. Students will need to complete additional admissions steps for certain degree programs.

“In addition to providing a seamless pathway, our goal is to expand and simplify access to the academic majors at Western so that more students can achieve their educational goals,” said Robert Squires, Vice Provost for Outreach and Continuing Education at Western. "Eligible EvCC students can now be directly admitted to over 30 academic majors at Western."

The guaranteed transfer admission program connects students early with academic advisors at EvCC and WWU to help them choose courses that align with their intended major. Both institutions will collaborate on outreach, advising and annual program evaluations to ensure a smooth transfer experience.
