Lunar New Year 2026
Asian Student Union (ASU) invites you to their Lunar New Year celebration event in Henry M. Jackson Conference Center, Room 101, on Thursday, February 26, from 4-8pm! Join us for a fun night with delicious food, lucky money envelope decorating, origami, photo booths, trivia with prizes, a lion dance performance by Mak Fai, and more.
Lunar New Year is celebrated by Asian communities worldwide to mark the arrival of spring and the beginning of the new year on the lunar calendar. The holiday also marks the transition between zodiac signs from 2025's Year of the Snake to 2026's Year of the Horse. The date of the celebrations varies each year as the holiday begins with the first new moon of the lunar year and concludes at the first full moon. This year, the Lunar New Year begins on February 17th.
ASU's mission is to create a community where people feel included and can learn about other cultures through immersive experiences. Free food and activities will be available to EvCC students, so bring your ID's! Dinner is $5 a person for non-student members; cash only, please.
