Transfer Out Info

Overview

If you plan to transfer from Everett Community College to another school in the U.S., you need to complete this transfer-out form indicating the school to which you intend to transfer and the date you would like your record released to the new school.  An International Education Center staff member will then set up the release of your SEVIS record. Make sure you are applying through the international student admissions process at your new school. We cannot release your record to a school that cannot accept international students.

On the date of release, your new school will have access to your SEVIS record.  Only then can the new school issue the new transfer in I-20.  The new I-20 will have the same SEVIS ID as your current EvCC I-20.  Please note, many schools have a Transfer In form that may require a signature from EvCC International Education Center before they are willing to issue the I-20.

When we set up a release of a SEVIS record to a new school, we must choose a specific school and a specific release date.  Therefore, you must have an admission letter from the new school and have finalized your school choice before we can set up the transfer out release.

When choosing the release date please remember that in order to maintain your F-1 status you cannot be released mid-quarter. You must request your transfer before the start of your next required quarter of attendance. To maintain your F-1 status, you must begin your studies at the new school at their next available start date and no later than 5 months after your last day of classes at EvCC.

If you are applying to another quarter-based school, you must enroll for the next available term unless you are on an authorized vacation quarter even if you miss their admissions deadline for that term. For example, if you attend with EvCC in Fall and intend to transfer to a quarter-based school for Winter, but miss their deadline, you cannot maintain your F1 status and defer to Spring just because it is within 5 months. You must either enroll with EvCC or find another school to enroll with for Spring.

If you have graduated with an Associate degree at EvCC, your release date can be any date between the end of the quarter and 60 days after the quarter ends. If you are planning to graduate in Winter and transfer to a school starting in a Fall semester, be mindful that your next available start date is within 5 months.

If you change your decision about your transfer, you must notify our office prior to your transfer release date. Once we reach the transfer release date, we will no longer have access to your SEVIS record.
