The Photography program at EvCC emphasizes the balance of concept and craft. Our course of study integrates the technical skills necessary for successful image making with the critical thought, visual literacy, and creativity required for effective and powerful communication. Students study and develop proficiency in digital photography from capture through print presentation. Along their learning pathway students receive practical experience in studio lighting, black and white processing, compositing, alternative processes, and presentation practices. Students complete their path with both a personal Thesis Project and a Professional Practices course in which they create a refined portfolio and website showcasing their work. Students graduate with a strong body of work and the practical skills to successfully begin their career in photography or transfer to a four-year art institution or university.
