Program Map for Cybercrime Investigation Certificate

This certificate provides a bridge between criminal justice foundational knowledge and the growing law enforcement challenges of cybercrime investigation. Ideal for law enforcement officers, as well as corporate, business, and information technology and computer systems personnel who wish to enhance their expertise in cybercime investigation and cybersecurity. This certificate can also be stacked toward either the Criminal Justice AAS-T degree or the Associate of Arts and Sciences - DTA with a focus on Criminal Justice.

Notes on using this map:

* indicates an elective course that is recommended but not required and could be substituted with another appropriate course. For example, ENGL& 102* on a map means that ENGL& 102* is recommended, but any 5-credit course from the Basic Communication Skills list on the DTA would also be acceptable.
 
indicates a pre-requisite relationship. For example, MATH&141→ MATH&142 on a map indicates that a student must pass MATH& 141 before taking MATH& 142

(F, W, Sp, Su) indicates the quarters in which a course is offered, if not offered every quarter. For example, ART 116 (W) means that ART 116 is only offered during Winter quarters

TS stands for Transitional Studies. Courses taken through the Transitional Studies department do not qualify for financial aid but cost only $25 per quarter. To see if you qualify, contact the Advising Center at advising@everettcc.edu or 425-388-9339.

If your English placement is below ENGL& 098, you’ll need to take following sequence of courses, starting from the level you placed into:

  • ENGL/TS/AEP 97 → ENGL/TS/AEP 98

Note: English language learners may need additional courses before ENGL/TS/AEP 97 depending on their placement.

Recommended Actions 

Complete college level courses. Focus on those that fit in the Criminal Justice Pathway so that if you change to another program, most of the credits you've earned already will apply to your new goal.

  • Take IT 203 - Introduction to Cyber Warfare (5 credits)
  • Take IT 145 - Digital Forensics, Investigation, and Rresponse (5 credits)

Quarter 2: Year 1 - Winter Quarter

  • Take CJ 204 - Open Source Intelligence (5 credits)

  • If you haven't already, join a club that aligns with your interest.

  • Complete your educational plan so that you know which reaminaing courses you will be taking and in which quarter(s). Ensure your program advisor approves it and provides you with a copy that you can include when it comes time for you to apply to graduate (to apply for your degree).

  • Take CJ 205 - Cyber Criminals, Laws, and Evidence (5 credits)
