Lesson 1 - Operating Systems
Overview of popular operating systems and common features used on both personal computers and mobile devices with specific instruction on using Windows (Start menu, Taskbar, Cortana, Action Center, Control Panel, and Desktop customization using the Settings app).

Lesson 2 - Hardware
Overview of the following hardware devices: motherboard, processors, input devices, output devices, storage devices, power, and memory types. Explanation of peripheral ports and connectors as well as measuring storage capacity, frequency, and bandwidth. Explanation of computer types such as servers, desktops, laptops, tablets, smart phones.

Lesson 3 - Networks and Mobile Devices
Overview of networks and the advantages of networking. Overview of Internet services and technologies used and the various speeds for each technology (DSL, broadband, fiber optic, satellite). Learn the advantages and disadvantages of wired and wireless connections. Introduction to cellular networks types, carriers, service plans, and devices.

Lesson 4 - File Management
Overview of directories and structure. Understanding drive letters and storage devices along with navigation of drives. Understanding Windows File Explorer and creating folders and subfolders. Perform the following file management tasks: move files, copy files, search the file system, rename files, delete and recover files, and work with zipped and compressed files.

Lesson 5 - Software
Overview of software and explanation of cloud-based software versus local installation. Overview of installing, repairing and uninstalling software along with software configurations and updates. Explanation on using app stores, creating user accounts and an introduction to messaging applications, instant messaging, chatting, and using video conferencing software.

Lesson 6 - Cloud Computing
Overview of cloud computing concepts and benefits. Introduction to using cloud storage (Google Drive, Microsoft OneDrive, Dropbox, iCloud) to store and share files. Introduction to web apps and cloudbased applications.

Lesson 7 - Security and Maintenance
Overview of security requirements and identifying risks such as viruses, worms, trojans, spyware/adware, social engineering, and phishing. Learn how to mitigate these risks by using virus protection, firewalls, monitoring software, secure connections, VPN, and data backup and restore points. Implement strong usernames and passwords with appropriate administrative settings for each
user and learning troubleshooting techniques.
