Your Financial Aid Offer and Receiving Your Aid

Once you have submitted your FAFSA or WASFA and all required documents, we take the following steps to offer you the financial aid funds that we determine you are eligible to receive:

  1. Your file will be assigned to a financial aid advisor and reviewed based on the date you submitted the FAFSA or WASFA and/or the last document needed to complete your file. Note: sometimes during the review process, we find that additional information or documentation imay be required before we can determine your eligilbiity. In this case, simply submit the additional information as soon as possible. You will not lose your original completion date if you submit the required information within two weeks. Your file will be reviewed shortly after you provide the information we need.
  2. If you are eligible for aid, an award is made. You are notified via your email address reported on your FAFSA or WASFA. The email provides you with a link to the Financial Aid Tile on the ctcLink Student Homepage, where you can view the types and amounts of aid  you have been offered.
  3. If you are not eligible, we will notify you of the reason by email and through the Financial Aid Tile, prior to the beginning of the quarter (based on the deadline you met).
  4. There are limits on some of the funds available to award you.  Awards are made on a first-come, first-served basis. The earlier you apply, the more likely you are to receive all the aid you are eligible for. Apply early!
  5. Unless otherwise indicated, your award assumes full-time enrollment of 12 or more credits per quarter. Notify the Financial Aid Office by submitting the online Enrollment Change Form  if you wish to take less than 12 credits. Your awards will be recalculated to your currently enrollment level. Note that student loans and the work-study program require a minimum enrollment of six credits per quarter. (Review Types of Award for more details).
  6. If you met the deadline for the quarter you wish to start school, or you have received your award notification (email), we hold you in your classes until your financial aid pays your tuition.
    1. We pay your tuition about a week before the quarter begins – except for summer quarter. For summer, we cannot disburse funds to you, or pay your tuition until July 1st, which begins our school year.
    2. If your aid does not cover all your tuition, you must pay the balance no later than the last day to withdraw and receive a 100% refund. Unpaid balances may incur a late charge and the start of collection proceedings. If you do not want to take your classes, you must drop them yourself within the 100% refund period. Check the Enrollment/Academic calendar Important Dates or specific deadline dates.
  7. After your tuition is paid any balance remaining is refunded to you through your BankMobile refund preference.
  8. If you add or drop credits after you receive your refund, you may owe a repayment of the aid you received, or you may owe additional tuition, which you must pay out of your own fundsSee  Census, Refunds, Repayments and R2T4 Policy.
