Let's Taco 'Bout Careers in the Humanities

The Humanities Pathway is hosting a lunchtime event May 29 for students studying the humanities. Julie Ziegler, chief executive officer of Humanities Washington, will be on hand to provide career advice and speak on how humanities course work prepares students for a wide variety of jobs.

The event will take place in WHI 248 from noon to 1:30 p.m. A free taco lunch will be included for those who attend. For any questions, please contact Jo-Ann Sickles at jsickles@everettcc.edu.

Visit Everett Community College’s East County Campus in Monroe for a free information session to find out how to sign up for English classes.
The information will be offered in Spanish.
Classes are Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday evenings and cost $25 per person. Everyone is welcome!

The Diversity and Equity Center will be hosting a FAFSA/WAFSA Workshop. If you have not completed your financial aid, come and join us! 
Make sure to bring the following information and documents with you to our WAFSA/FAFSA Workshop:
•       Your driver’s license or state ID
•       Your income information. This includes bank information, a W-2 or pay stub, and 2017 tax return forms
•       Your parents, if you are 24 or younger

Healing Through Spoken Word

Calling all performers! Have you got a talent that is waiting to be listened to by everyone? Well now is
your chance to shine at EvCC’s Open Mic! On Thursday, May 2 nd from 12:30pm to 2:30pm in TBD,
students will have an opportunity to share their talent of spoken word, sharing poetry. With five minuets
of air time for each, we will provide the stage and you will provide the talent. Sign up in the student LIFE
at PSU 209 by April 29 th ! Hurry though because space is limited, and sign-ups are on a first come first

Your Guide to Sex Toys ft. Megan Stubbs

Dr. Megan Stubbs gives her educational talk, ‘Your Guide to Sex Toys’: Part two of Megan’s program will be a fun, light-hearted informational workshop on the safe use of sex toys. This program is designed to entertain and educate with actionable steps and information the participants can use as soon as they leave. Her advice is frequently quoted in national media outlets, she is a sex columnist with Playboy, frequently appears on television, speaks on radio, and presents at public and private events.

Ebony Stewart Poetry Performance

Ebony Steward performs a series of slam poems with topics based around sexuality, race, social issues, gender identity and mental health. As one of the most decorated poets in Texas, Ebony is a respected coach and mentor, one of the top touring poets in the country, and a Woman of the world Poetry Slam champion. Her performance includes a Q&A segment, during which attendees will be able to anonymously write questions down and put them in a box, to be drawn and answered at random.

Ebony Stewart: ‘Sex, Love and Above Relationships is more than just the plumbing’

Ebony Stewart is an international touring poet and performance artist. Her work speaks to the Black experience, with emphasis on gender, sexuality, womanhood, and race, with the hopes to be relatable, remove shame, heal minds, encourage dialogue, and inspire folks in marginalized communities. She is currently pursuing a degree as a sex therapist, and will be coming to Jackson Center 101 on April 23, 2019.
