Compassionate Strategies and Using Data to Support Social-Emotional Well-Being
presented by Kyla Curtright & Christy Anana
Educators will learn about Quil Ceda Tulalip Elementary School's journey and vision for supporting the social-emotional well-being of its students. We will provide an overview of the various school wide supports included in Quil Ceda Tulalip's Compassion Plan, which is based on the principles within the OSPI book- The Heart of Learning: Compassion, Resiliency and Academic Success. Workshop attendees will learn why Compassionate strategies are important and effective in their work with students who have had adverse childhood experiences (ACE's) to help mitigate the impact of trauma in students' lives. We will demonstrate specific strategies to try which can be brought to your own school. We will discuss how to measure the effectiveness of these strategies. Furthermore, attendees will learn what types of data can be used to track the effectiveness of social/emotional/behavior interventions and teaching. We will discuss how to use data to modify interventions as needed.
